What nutrients are broken down by the teeth?

There aren%26#039;t nutrients or anything that are broken down by the teeth themselves (well, unless you%26#039;re talking about the actual mechanical means of chewing your food.) Your saliva does have enzymes that help start the digestion process and cleanse your mouth of cavity causing bacteria.

What nutrients are broken down by the teeth?
Your saliva has a chemical called enzymes and it softens the food and you swallow it. If you look on the food nutrition on the food you ate it will tell al the information
Reply:i dont think teeth break down any nutrients...teeth help u break down the food into smaller pieces so it can be swallowed

Broken tooth question?

i have a broken tooth on my upper eye teeth area.it is all swoll and infected.how painful is it to have it removed.i am terrified of going to the dentist, but i have no choice eny more.what is the procedure like when he removes it.thanks from a scardy cat

Broken tooth question?
The dentist will most likely give you a prescription of antibiotics to first bring that raging infection under control, then a few days later when the infection is under control, the broken tooth root will be pulled.

The extraction procedure is pretty straightforward.. A dentist will numb you up with some lidocaine, then use an elevator to loosen up the broken root and pop it out of the tooth socket. Because the upper jaw bone is kind of spongy, it%26#039;s usually pretty easy to do with the right instruments.

Just follow the dentist%26#039;s directions on taking any antibiotics and post-op care, and you will do great.

Good luck.

Crown for broken tooth shard?

Hello,

Recently I found a shard of broken tooth in my mouth, very small... So I went to the dentist, and he did a series of fillings, none of which soothed the pain in my teeth, my dentist said that I grind at night and crushed the teeth, he doesn%26#039;t really know if its really fractured(he just says that its most likely that), and he said that I should get a temp crown. It is pretty painful, but the teeth is still perfectly intact, is there another way?

Crown for broken tooth shard?
If you are a grinder, has he not suggested getting a night guard?????

To put crown on a tooth that is possibly fractured is like putting the cart before the horse. If the tooth is fractured it could either:

A) need a root canal- if the fracture gets close to the nerve

B) mean the tooth is not salvageable depending on how severe the crack is.

An xray would not show the crack

If he took the tooth out of occlusion first (reduced the bite) this may relieve the pain you have from grinding. (If the fracture is small and has nothing to do with the nerve)

Yes, you are wearing away your cusps of your teeth by grinding and I am surprised he is not looking for a way to help you retain ALL of your teeth from further damage.

Good luck!

Broken tooth root.?

So, I fell on my front teeth(-_-) and they got pushed inwards. I have braces so my ortho fixed that. But I took some x-rays and found out I have a broken root on my front teeth. What are the possible things doctors can do, besides pull it out?

Broken tooth root.?
a root canal and a crown.. no biggie! :)
Reply:maybe a root canal can be done... did your dentist not suggest treatment plans with you??

don%26#039;t worry, i%26#039;m sure it can be fixed and your will have a beautiful smile!!!!
Reply:It depends on the location of the fracture. If it is horizontal and near the tip of the root, it is likely it can be saved (though the tooth may need root canal treatment). If it%26#039;s vertical or oblique halfway down the root, the chances are poor of saving the tooth.

If it%26#039;s near the gumline there is a chance it can be saved, but in order to do this it may be necessary to expose the fractured edge surgically, and this can lead to a cosmetic problem as the gumlines of the two adjacent teeth won%26#039;t match. And between the root canal, gum surgery and crown it%26#039;s probably not worth it. Much better to consider an implant if at all possible.

Reply:If the root is fractured, I don%26#039;t think there is much to do besides pull out the tooth. A good replacement for that would be an implant. Basically a metal root surgically placed in your gums, and than a crown placed after wards. Good option that will last a long long time.

Recurrent dream about teeth breaking apart.?

So I%26#039;ve realized I%26#039;m having this recurrent dream where I%26#039;m doing something entirely innocuous and mundane when I start to realize my molars are cracking apart.

So I poke my finger in my mouth and wiggle my molars around and realize, wow, yes, they%26#039;re falling apart, and wow, here%26#039;s my right lower wisdom tooth in my hand right here.

I bite down even gently and I can feel my teeth continue to break apart.

I panic and wonder what to do, but feel reassured that I could always get implants later on if I had to.

The others around me don%26#039;t seem to react with the same shock that I do. My teeth keep crumbling and falling out, and soon I have small handfuls of broken tooth pieces.

I generally either wake up or switch to another dream sequence at this point, just before losing the last of my teeth.

Any thoughts?

Other than that - - - - teeth breaking is a symbol of a loss of face. A feeling that one is about to face a disgraceful episode and is dreading it. To best control dreams, and avoid grinding teeth during sleep which is a real troubling trend among moderns, focus on clean white healthy teeth before plunging into sleep....

Reply:ADDED: In all seriousness it%26#039;s not necessarily about your teeth at all - it may be any number of other responsibilities in your life that you need to get a grip on. Perhaps you%26#039;ve heard the well-intended warnings of others and are well smart enough to apply them, but now are faced with needing to actuate them and in perfectly normal fashion you are finding a bit of a challenge in that. That can generate some feeling of loss of control.

Take time to sort such things out - you can and will deal with them before all your teeth, figuratively, crumble and fall out.

Good luck.

That%26#039;s an odd subject - assuming you are serious though -

It seems you%26#039;ve been warned to take better care of your teeth and that you have been a bit casual in your response to that and assume there is always a fix that can be had. Now you may be starting to realize there may be a problem after all and it could be more than you planned on. Implants and such are expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable to get done.

Those observing around you are not surprised at your problem, nor are they terribly concerned any longer because as the problem matures you are assuming responsibility for it - it is no longer theirs to deal with.

Brush and floss before you rack up some horrendous dental bills, sweet dreams - and no candy.

I have a semi reoccuring dream and my teeth are all broken in bits in my mouth and spit them out whats it mean

That you have unresolved issues in something. I get this dream when I need to sort something out and have been leaving it or burying my head in the sand

That someone is going to break in and smack you in the mouth

Reply:I can%26#039;t remember but it is a common dream so someone will be able to tell you! I think it%26#039;s something to do with insecurities, lack of control, or something like that.
Reply:It can mean several things including a fear of loss, a fear of losing your looks as you age or even simply a fear of losing your teeth.
Reply:if you dream of your teeth falling out or broken teeth then it means someone you know will befriend you.

So be carefull of those close around you
Reply:Dreams about the mouth/teeth have to do with your communication skills and since it is recurring it is some thing that you need to change when we have recurring dreams it is our minds way of telling you that what you are doing is not working.
Reply:The first thing to do is go see a dentist if you get your teeth checked out and you still have the same dream. Loosing teeth could mean lossing someone close to you.
Reply:I have this too. For the past ten years or so, I%26#039;ve had it every so often, always with a new twist but essentially the same.

In my experience, I get it when either

a) I need to see the dentist (the dream usually occurs anything from days to weeks before I discover that a trip to the dentist%26#039;s in order)

b) Things are getting on top of me and I need to slow down, take care of myself more and deal with any outstanding issues.

Of course, it could be different in your case (something as simple as you%26#039;re grinding your teeth, maybe).

Personally, I%26#039;m skeptical of a lot of dream interpretations. From a Freudian point of view, some interpretations make sense (particularly if you bear in mind what things symbolise to you individually, based on your past experience), but as for %26#039;if you dream of a fox it means someone%26#039;s out to get you%26#039; etc... no, I don%26#039;t buy into that.

Hope you figure it out!
Reply:It sounds like you fear that you have no %26quot;bite%26quot; in your life. That is that you have lost your power to defend yourself for some reason. Maybe you%26#039;ve given your power to someone else or perhaps they make you feel powerless. Look to your %26quot;real%26quot; life and see if there is anything you need to change to bring you some peace and a feeling that you are in charge of your life.
Reply:It means you%26#039;re probably from England and you%26#039;re not dreaming.
Reply:In the same way people ahve re-occuring dreams that have a meaning, many are just dreams. Don%26#039;t worry about it.

But, on the othher hand, this dream comes with a sence of insucurety and anxiety. Could be from somthing new going on in your life. Maby a bad interaction with someone you know?
