One of my back teeth is broken and split in two?

the back part is wobbly.will I need a root canal or would a dentist pull it out? I would rather it was pulled out

One of my back teeth is broken and split in two?
Visit your dentist asap, if the whole tooth breaks and the split goes below the gum line it will have to be removed, no root canal will be carried out.

If how ever only one surface wall of tooth had broken there is a possibility that the dentist will be able to save it.

Any remaining old filling will be removed and the core of the tooth will be refilled, a small Titanium post will be inserted and a white filling material will be placed over the post and the tooth can be built up, about a week later you return to the surgery where the dentist prepares the tooth for a crown, a week or so later the crown can be fitted!

If there%26#039;s a chance it can be saved I%26#039;d give it a go, after all there%26#039;s no substitute for your own natural teeth!
Reply:They will pull it out if you ask them to !, but they will try to save it if you let them.
Reply:That%26#039;s happened to me on both sides at different times. If it is badly split, the dentist will most likely make a crown (%26quot;cap%26quot;) which can be either gold or porcelain, or it%26#039;s just a small part which has split, they might just make a large filling. You can ask for a white filling, but they don%26#039;t last as long as mercury ones. The good thing about white fillings is they don%26#039;t poison you.

If a dentist ever tells you that mercury fillings don%26#039;t poison you, ask them why there are health concerns about the smoke from crematoria due to mercury fillings?
Reply:IT NEEDS TO BE PULLED OUT. NO ROOT CANAL IS NECESSARY IN THIS CASE.
Reply:You should see your dentist ASAP
Reply:If the tooth is broken below the gum line then they will have to pull it. If not they may be able to repair it. If you want it pulled they will probably be glad to do so.
Reply:..........yank......it !
Reply:Just tell the dentist you want it pulled - shouldn%26#039;t be a problem, they have to obide by your wishes (and it%26#039;s cheaper than a root canel).
Reply:They will always try to save your tooth if they can, but if you go to a dentist that can do %26quot;surgical extractions%26quot; then they will just pull it out if that is what you want.
Reply:Best place to have this answered is in the comfort of the dentist%26#039;s chair, go for it and dont risk the horrors of toothache. ouch !
Reply:depends on how far the break is. If its your roots that have fractured it will need extraction.
