Recurrent dream about teeth breaking apart.?

So I%26#039;ve realized I%26#039;m having this recurrent dream where I%26#039;m doing something entirely innocuous and mundane when I start to realize my molars are cracking apart.

So I poke my finger in my mouth and wiggle my molars around and realize, wow, yes, they%26#039;re falling apart, and wow, here%26#039;s my right lower wisdom tooth in my hand right here.

I bite down even gently and I can feel my teeth continue to break apart.

I panic and wonder what to do, but feel reassured that I could always get implants later on if I had to.

The others around me don%26#039;t seem to react with the same shock that I do. My teeth keep crumbling and falling out, and soon I have small handfuls of broken tooth pieces.

I generally either wake up or switch to another dream sequence at this point, just before losing the last of my teeth.

Any thoughts?

Reply:Have you been brushing %26amp; flossing as much as you should? Do you eat lots of sugar? Your brain may be trying to give you a graphic portrayal of what might be your fate if you don%26#039;t make a regular date with the water pick.

Other than that - - - - teeth breaking is a symbol of a loss of face. A feeling that one is about to face a disgraceful episode and is dreading it. To best control dreams, and avoid grinding teeth during sleep which is a real troubling trend among moderns, focus on clean white healthy teeth before plunging into sleep....

Reply:ADDED: In all seriousness it%26#039;s not necessarily about your teeth at all - it may be any number of other responsibilities in your life that you need to get a grip on. Perhaps you%26#039;ve heard the well-intended warnings of others and are well smart enough to apply them, but now are faced with needing to actuate them and in perfectly normal fashion you are finding a bit of a challenge in that. That can generate some feeling of loss of control.

Take time to sort such things out - you can and will deal with them before all your teeth, figuratively, crumble and fall out.

Good luck.

That%26#039;s an odd subject - assuming you are serious though -

It seems you%26#039;ve been warned to take better care of your teeth and that you have been a bit casual in your response to that and assume there is always a fix that can be had. Now you may be starting to realize there may be a problem after all and it could be more than you planned on. Implants and such are expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable to get done.

Those observing around you are not surprised at your problem, nor are they terribly concerned any longer because as the problem matures you are assuming responsibility for it - it is no longer theirs to deal with.

Brush and floss before you rack up some horrendous dental bills, sweet dreams - and no candy.
Reply:Fear of approaching impotence.
